Step 1. Just call us or use our online form to request
a Free Roof
Estimate. We can
thoroughly assess your roofing problem and determine the best
solution options available to you.
We will come out inspect the condition of your roof and take measurements of your
roof.
Step 2. Choosing A Roof
System There are a number of things to
consider when selecting a new roof system.
We will go over the types of roof options you have for your home or business.
Shingle roof ? Not all shingles are made the same.
Metal roof ? Not
all metal roofs are the same.
Tile roof ? Not all tile roofs are the same either.
We will help you choose the right roof.
Step 3. We prepare your Estimate Now that we have the size of your roof and know what type of roof
you are looking for.
We can determine how much it will cost to install the roof you have chosen.
Step 4. The Contract
And Paper Work Once your estimate is ready we can deliver
it to you by hand, via email or fax and by USPS.
After you receive your estimate. Look it over and make sure everything is correct.
If you have any questions just pick up the phone and ask.
Next if you make the wise decision to have install your new roof, there is a little paper work.
A. You
will need to sign the contract.
B. There is a NOC (Notice Of Commencement) has to be notarized and we can do that for
you.
C. We need the notarized NOC and a copy of the contract, to take to the permit office to pull
a permit.
Step 5. Scheduling Your New Roof Now that we have received your permit from the
permit office it is time to set a tentative start date.
Start dates are not set in stone. We just have no control over the weather and when it
rains roofing get delayed.
We will call a day or to in advance before we start. Part of
the scheduling is setting the day to start the
removal of your existing roof and delivery of the roofing materials from the supply
house.
Step 6.
The Starting Date - Preparing The Site When our roofing crew arrives, they
will begin setting up everything needed to complete your new roof. This may include tarps, ladders,
plywood, extension cords, etc. If there are any questions that you would like to ask during any

inform us of any concerns as soon as possible so we can address them.
Step 7.
Removing Your Existing Roof(s) Tearing off an existing roof can be a loud and
dangerous process. There is a lot of weight coming off of your home all removed by hand, about
10,000 lbs on average. All of the material has to come off and is placed either directly into a
dump trailer or into ground dumpster. It is important to understand that we do this every day, and
that many homeowners only have a roof done once or twice in their lives. So again, if there are any

Step 7a. Continued Removing Your Existing Roof(s) And
Finding Bad Wood During the removal of your existing roof is the
first time where the original roof deck is exposed, and we are able to assess the type
and amount of wood that should be replaced if any at all. Many homes require little to no new
wood, while others could need large sections replaced, this mainly depends on the condition
of the old roof, as far as undetected leaks went unnoticed and over time you end up with
rotted wood. Not all leaks make it into your house. On average about 40% of our
customers need no new wood at all. In the contract we state how much we charge for
hidden wood damage.
Step 8.
Installing Your New Roof After we have removed your old roof and replaced any
rotten wood. (if needed) It is time to get prepare the roof deck for the new roof. These are
the steps involved in preparing your roof deck.
A. We clean all those old nails or staples left from the removal of the old
roof.
B. We renail the wood decking to bring in up to code. This is mandated by law.
C. We install the new underlayment and trim metals, such as eaves drip and
flashings.
Note: That using a Peel & Seal underlayment will cost a little more but you may get a
break on the cost of your insurance. Check with your insurance carrier.
D Install the new roof system along with any
vents, boots pr counter flashing.
Step 9. The Clean up Once all the work has been
completed. It's time for us to clean up let you have your house back. All of our
trucks are equipped with magnets that will pick up stray nails around you property. We
will pick up and haul away all of the roofing debris around the house or business.
It is our gold that the only way you know we were there is that nice new roof.
Step 10. Final Inspection, Payment and Warranty
Papers. Now that the roof is finished and the area is clean it's time for the
inspector to do his job and inspect your new roof and give his seal of approval.
We will give you the final invoice with details of any extra work and if a payment was
made when we started.
You will receive a labor warranty from JK Johns Roofing & Sheet
Metal, Inc. You will also receive a material warranty from the man facture of the type of
roof you choose.
